Welcome to our weekly review of the latest superintendent news across the IEI Family! As the new school year kicks off, we have some inspiring updates from Meridian CUSD 223, Oregon CUSD 220, Denver Public Schools, and Franklin Square UFSD.
Let’s explore the latest from our K12 Educational Leadership!
Dr. PJ Caposey, Superintendent for Meridian CUSD 223 and Oregon CUSD 220 in IL discusses how it's crucial for schools to reassess RtI and MTSS systems to unlock their full potential for academic improvement. Schools must focus on five key areas and refine their approach to ensure these systems become truly transformative for students.
Superintendent Dr. Alex Marrero visited several schools on Monday accompanied by district staff, cameramen, and school board members. He also visited Wyatt Academy, a charter school in northeast Denver that narrowly escaped closure last school year had it not been for Principal Melody Means' plan to keep Wyatt open, which included a new partnership with ViVe Wellness, a nonprofit serving many of the tens of thousands of migrants, including those from Venezuela, who have recently arrived in Denver.
Dr. Jared Bloom of Franklin Square UFSD in NY is interviewed in a newly released podcast where he discusses his district's goal of achieving personalized learning for students and the steps to reach it, such as utilizing innovative programs like a district-wide theater initiative and coding classes. He emphasizes education's role in addressing social media challenges and notes his project to foster positive digital behavior. The conversation also explores effective strategies for boosting parent and community involvement, showcasing how technology enhances connections between students, parents, and the community.
As the academic year kicks off, we look forward to more educational leadership and IEI Family News!
